We created the first version of this map with care and dedication. Since then, we've actively listened to our users, made improvements, added new features, and ensured the map remains up to date. Throughout this journey, we've adhered to the latest coding practices, prioritizing performance and security.

The map comes in two forms: a WordPress Plugin and a Standard JavaScript template. The WordPress plugin is designed to be installed on a WordPress website, while the Standard JavaScript template can be embedded into any website that allows you to insert HTML code.

Installation on a Standard Website (back to top)

To install the map on your website, please follow these steps:

Note: This method is suitable for standard websites where you can upload the map's supporting JS/CSS files to your hosting and have full access to the page's code to insert the map HTML code. For websites hosted on platforms like Joomla, Wix, Weebly, Squarespace, and others, you can combine the code into an inline script and you may embed that in the page using their 'Embed Custom HTML' option if applicable. If you need assistance, feel free to contact us, and we’d be happy to help you with the installation for no cost. There is no guarantee, as this is beyond our control. We may request the login credentials to your website for a quicker installation process.

Upload the 'it-js-map' folder to your website. You can use an FTP client like FileZilla to upload the files, and here’s a simple video tutorial to guide you.
Alternatively, you can upload the folder using the 'File Manager' option in your web hosting control panel (e.g., godaddy, bluehost, hostinger, etc).
Note: Inside the 'it-js-map' folder you should have 4 files (index.html, map-config.js, map-style.css, and pins-config.js).
Enter the directory where you uploaded the map folder (e.g., https://www.example.com/it-js-map/):

Test the link and if the map is displayed and functioning correctly, we can proceed. Otherwise, please check the previous step.
Based on the directory you provided, let's update the <head> code.

Installation on a WordPress Website (back to top)

The purchased files include an installable WordPress plugin file, 'it-js-map.zip', for installing the map plugin on your WordPress website. Please follow the steps below:

Log in to your WordPress admin page.
Go to 'Plugins' > 'Add New Plugin'.
Click 'Upload Plugin' then 'Choose File', select this zipped file 'it-js-map.zip'.
Click 'Install Now', then 'Activate Plugin'.
Note: If you see the error message, "The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found," it means that an incorrect file was uploaded. Please double-check Step 3 for guidance.
In the left side bar you will see a new menu link for the map, click it to open the map dashboard and start the customization.

Note: You can now insert the shortcode [it_js_map] in any page to display the map. Be sure to place the shortcode in a 'Shortcode' block, not a 'Paragraph' block.

You can customize the colors, link, and hover information for each area through the included 'map-config.js' file (JavaScript knowledge is not required). Simply open the file using any code editor, such as Sublime Text or Notepad++, both of which are free to download and use.

Note: MS Word or MS Notepad will not work for editing this file.

You can display an unlimited number of pins anywhere on the map by editing the 'pins-config.js' file, which can be found either in:

WordPress Plugin Version:
Log in to your WordPress admin page, then go to 'Tools' and click on 'Plugin File Editor'. From the dropdown menu in the top-right corner, select the map plugin and click 'Select' to display the map plugin files. Next, click on 'pins-config.js', make the required edits, and then click 'Update File' to save your changes.
Standard JavaScript Version:
Inside the 'it-js-map' folder, you will find the 'pins-config.js' file. Open it using any code editor, such as Sublime Text or Notepad++, both of which are free to download and use.

For your convenience, we’ve added a few pins representing major cities, but we’ve set the pin size to zero to keep them hidden. You can replace 0 with any value to display the pin.

Most likely, there is an error in the script of the newly saved file that is causing the code to break. To identify the issue, press F12 in Google Chrome and check the error console.

Most likely, the link to the 'map-style.css' file is missing or incorrect.

In some website templates, due to the arrangement of divs, the floating hover popup may be displaced from its intended position. To resolve this, we recommend cutting the <span id="itjstip"></span> and pasting it immediately after the opening <body> tag of the page, like this:

This is likely a cache issue, either with your browser or the server. To resolve it, try clearing your browser cache or accessing the map from another browser or device. If the issue persists due to server cache, you can contact your hosting provider to clear the cache files. Typically, the cache will reset automatically after a certain period (e.g., 1 hour).

Alternatively, you can add a version number to the end of the JavaScript file to force the server to load the updated version, like this:

Notice the ?v2 added after the file name.
